Why I Love Maternity Photography
They say pregnancy is beautiful but beautiful was the last thing I felt as I lumbered through my last trimester almost 5 years ago. In the midst of the heartburn and hormones and the incessant, constant need to pee, I managed to schedule a maternity photo session. I knew it was important to me to document this special time but I hada lot of trepidation. I was a big as a house and was definitely not feeling my best. Did I really want evidence of my massive, achy body recorded for all time?
We booked a great photographer (thanks Pasagraphy Photography!) and the session was comfortable and a lot of fun. A few sneak peeks on the back of the camera helped to build my confidence and when I viewed my gallery for the first time I could not contain my smile. There it was. There was the beauty of my pregnancy. You could see our happiness and excitement and (as cheesy as it sounds) the love that we had for one another and the love we had for our baby.

This experience was something I kept in my mind as I dived into photography. In the beginning I dabbled into a bit of everything as most photographers do…events, family, maternity, newborns, boudoir, portraits, even real estate.
They say you know when it is time to specialize and it became clear to me when showing little peek from the back of my camera and having an expectant mama say “I look beautiful!”.
That is what my goal is. That is what I want you to see.
I want you to see the tenderness between you and your partner.
I want you to see the beautiful curve of your belly.
I want you to see the love you have for one another.
I want you to see the love and excitement you have for your baby as you hug your belly close.
I want you to see the laughter and joy that you and your partner share.
I want you leave your session feeling gorgeous and confident and excited.
Strong. Confident. Beautiful.
